Cookie Policy

This policy explains how BREEDER MAGIC uses cookies and similar technologies on our online store, what each category does, and how you can control them in your browser.

01What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer, tablet, or phone when you visit. They contain a short identifier and a few pieces of data — never your full payment details — that let the site recognize your device on the next page load or the next visit. Some cookies are "session" cookies, deleted automatically when you close your browser; others are "persistent" cookies that remain for a defined period, from a few hours to about two years. In addition to cookies, we use closely related technologies such as local storage (which keeps slightly larger pieces of data in your browser) and pixels in emails that tell us whether a shipping confirmation was opened. Throughout this policy, "cookies" refers to all of these technologies. This page supplements our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle personal information, and our Terms of Service.

02Why an Online Garden Store Needs Cookies

Practically everything that makes shopping possible on this site depends on cookies. When you add a ceramic planter and a bag of potting mix to your cart, browse to compare LED grow lights, and then return to checkout, a cookie is what keeps those items in your cart. Cookies keep you signed in to your account between pages, remember that you already dismissed a notification bar, protect checkout from automated bots, and help us see which product pages — drip irrigation kits, pruning shears, moss poles — are most useful to visitors so we can improve descriptions and photography. Without cookies, every page load would treat you as a brand-new, anonymous visitor.

03Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the store to function and cannot be switched off through our systems. They include the cookies that maintain your cart contents, carry you securely through checkout, keep your account session active, remember your consent choices, and defend against fraudulent or automated traffic. They do not store any information used for advertising. Because the store cannot operate without them, they are set automatically when you visit; if you block them entirely in your browser, core features such as the cart and checkout will stop working, as described in section 8 below.

04Performance Cookies

Performance cookies collect aggregated information about how the site is running: how quickly product pages load, whether images of planters render correctly on different devices, which checkout steps generate errors, and how often visitors encounter a broken link. All of the information these cookies collect is combined across many visitors and used only to keep the site fast and reliable. They typically expire within 24 hours to 30 days.

05Functional Cookies

Functional cookies remember choices you make so that the site feels consistent between visits. Examples include your preferred currency display, whether you prefer a grid or list view on collection pages, items you saved to a wishlist, and whether you have already seen a first-visit welcome message. If you disable these cookies, the site will still work, but you will need to re-select these preferences each time you return.

06Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand shopping behavior in statistical form: which collections attract the most visits, how customers move from a grow light product page to related accessories, which search terms are used most, and what percentage of visitors complete checkout. We use this to decide what products to stock and how to organize the shop. Analytics data is pseudonymous — it is tied to a random identifier, not to your name — and we do not use it to build advertising profiles or sell it to anyone, consistent with the commitments in our Privacy Policy.

07Examples of Cookies We Use

The table below lists representative cookies you may find on our site. Exact names can vary as our platform is updated, but the purposes remain as described.

08Managing Cookies in Your Browser

Every major browser lets you view, limit, and delete cookies. Although menu names differ slightly, the controls are generally found in the same places:

  • In most desktop browsers, open the settings or preferences menu, then look for a section named "Privacy and security," "Privacy," or "Cookies and site data." There you can view stored cookies, delete them individually or all at once, block third-party cookies, or block all cookies.
  • Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window mode, in which cookies are stored only for the duration of that window and deleted when you close it.
  • On mobile devices, cookie controls are usually inside the browser app's settings menu under a similarly named privacy section.
  • You can typically also configure the browser to clear all cookies automatically every time you close it, or to ask you before a site sets a cookie.

Changes apply per browser and per device, so if you shop from both a laptop and a phone you will need to adjust each one separately.

09What Happens If You Disable Cookies

You can browse product pages with all non-essential cookies disabled and nothing important will break. Blocking strictly necessary cookies, however, has real consequences: your cart will empty itself between pages, checkout may fail or loop back to the cart, you will be signed out of your account repeatedly, and your saved preferences will disappear. If you have blocked cookies and find you cannot complete an order for grow lights or planters, re-enable cookies for our domain, reload the site, and rebuild your cart. Disabling analytics and performance cookies has no visible effect on your shopping experience; it only reduces the aggregate feedback we receive.

10Cookies Set by Service Providers

A small number of cookies on our site are set by the service providers who run parts of the store for us — the e-commerce platform that powers checkout, the payment processors that authorize transactions described in our Payment and Billing Policy, and our analytics vendor. These providers are contractually limited to using the data for the services they provide to us. We do not permit advertising networks to place tracking cookies on our store for their own purposes, and we do not sell cookie data, as explained in our Privacy Policy.

11Opt-Out Preference Signals

Where state privacy laws require it, we treat recognized browser-level opt-out signals, such as the Global Privacy Control, as a valid request to opt out of any cookie use that could qualify as targeted advertising for that browser. Because we do not run third-party advertising cookies, the practical effect for most visitors is simply confirmation of the default state of our site.

12Changes to This Cookie Policy

As our platform evolves — for example, if we add a new wishlist feature or change analytics vendors — the cookies we use may change. We will update this page and revise the "Last Updated" date whenever that happens, and we review this policy at least once every 12 months. Significant changes will be flagged with a notice on the site. We encourage you to check this page periodically alongside our Privacy Policy.

13Questions

If anything in this policy is unclear, or you would like help configuring your browser so that your cart and checkout keep working while limiting other cookies, reach out through our Contact Us page or the details below. We respond to cookie and privacy questions within 5 business days.
